Peter served as the chair of the US Standards Committee responsible for the development and maintenance of EDI standard for product data; he was responsible for the design, development and global promotion of the UNSPSC as an internationally recognized commodity classification and for the design of the eOTD, an internationally recognized open technical dictionary based on the NATO codification system.

Peter is the project leader for ISO 8000 the new international standard for data quality and for ISO 22745 the new standard for open technical dictionaries and the exchange of characteristic data. Peter is an expert in distributed information systems, content encoding, master data management and the generation of high quality descriptions that are the heart of today’s ERP applications and the next generation of high speed and high relevance internet searches.

Madison joined SRP in 2001 and in 2005 obtained a Masters degree in Education (Adult Learning/Distance Education emphasis). Now as a Learning Analyst she communicates the benefits of knowledge collaboration and is part of the Enterprise Learning Community initiative to enable a learning culture at SRP. On a matrix assignment, Madison is constructing a learning program for the Information Management (IM) department to advance organizational and individual IM maturity using an agile-based informal learning model. Through SharePoint, the program integrates informal collaboration and learning opportunities, and measures competence through project-based assignments and performance evaluations.

Grant Robinson is a natural resource scientist working for the NSW Office of Water in the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water in New South Wales, Australia. His experience analysing and managing natural resources information, particularly forestry and water resource data began in 1981. In 2008 he was appointed to a new role as Information Quality Coordinator for the state agency's water monitoring unit.

Robinson now facilitates a continuous improvement program that focuses on measurement, data gathering and management of water resource data, underpinned by ISO9001 certification. Before joining OPTUM Insight, Laura spent eight years in communications and IT roles in the commercial insurance. This paper has grown out of the literary studies of her pre-IT years. She holds a B.A. from Franklin & Marshall College and a Ph.D. in English Literature from the University of Rochester (NY). She taught in the Humanities Dept at the Eastman School of Music (1992-1994).

Sunil Soares is the Director of Information Governance within IBM Software Group.  Sunil has worked with more than a hundred clients across multiple industries including banking, insurance, life sciences, retail, telecommunications, manufacturing, healthcare and government.  Sunil helps clients assess their Information Governance Maturity and determine the appropriate processes and tools to move forward. 

Sunil has published a book called “The IBM Data Governance Unified Process” that details the fourteen steps and almost one hundred sub-steps to implement an Information Governance program. The book is currently in its second print and has also been translated into Chinese.

Sunil has held various sales and marketing roles within IBM Software.  Prior to his current role, Sunil was the Director of Worldwide Channels & Alliances for InfoSphere within IBM Software Group where he worked with a number of partners around their Information Governance practices. 

Prior to joining IBM, Sunil worked at the Financial Services Strategy Consulting Practice of Booz Allen & Hamilton in New York.

John Talburt John Talburt

Dr. John Talburt is Professor of Information Science at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) and Coordinator for the Information Quality Graduate Program. He is Executive Director of the UALR Center for Advanced Research in Entity Resolution and Information Quality and Associate Director of the Acxiom Laboratory for Applied Research. His areas of research are information quality and entity and identity resolution. From 1995 to 2005 he was a leader for research and development and product innovation at Acxiom Corporation. Professor Talburt is an inventor for several patents related to customer data integration, author for numerous articles on information quality and entity resolution, and author of Entity Resolution and Information Quality published by Morgan Kaufmann. Dr. Talburt is the winner of the 2008 DAMA International Academic Award and is a Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) at the mastery-level with specialties in data and information quality and information technology.

Nigel Turner Nigel Turner

Nigel Turner is an independent data management consultant & writer, specialising in enterprise data quality and data governance. Recently he authored part of the UK’s Institute of Direct Marketing’s “IDM Award in Data Management”, a new online data management training programme. He is also working as a strategic data quality consultant with Harte Hanks Trillium Software and with a major UK Government department.

Prior to this Nigel worked for British Telecommunications plc (BT) for 30 years. He held a variety of senior roles, specialising in information management and CRM. His last BT role was as an Information Management Consultant within BT’s Innovate & Design, where he worked with BT Group Human Relations to improve BT’s management of personnel information.  

Nigel has published several papers on information management (IM) and data quality, and is a regular speaker at CRM & IM conferences. In November 2007 he was voted runner up in the Data Strategy magazine’s UK Data Manager of the Year award.

Christian Walenta has held a variety of professional and management positions with IBM in Germany, UK and the USA. His professional experience of more than 20 years includes information management, data governance, management of supply chain systems, business development and project management.
Christian is a recognized leader in Information Management (IM) at IBM and currently works in IBM's Product Information organization. Prior to it, he led IBM's Information Management Office, responsible for providing information management strategy, IM programs and Data Governance enterprise wide. He implemented Information Quality programs for IBM's Supply Chain and has extensive practical experience in all aspects of Information Management, including setting overall IM strategies, implementing data stewardship and governance programs for complex organizations and driving Information Management as continuous culture change.

Christian serves as the President on the Board of Directors of the International Association for Information and Data Quality (IAIDQ).

Lwanga is a founding member of IAIDQ and currently serves as an Advisor to the IAIDQ Board and as a board member for several other non-profit organizations. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), a senior member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ ), and the recipient of the 2008 SPE Western North America Regional Management and Information Award.
