Michael Armbruster is the Enterprise Data Architect on the Enterprise Architecture Team in the Governor’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) in the State of Colorado.  As the enterprise data architect, Michael is responsible for providing consultation and advice to the Chief Data Officer Micheline Casey with developing and executing the State’s enterprise data strategy, providing input into and assisting with implementing a data governance and data management framework across the State’s Executive Branch agencies.

Michael’s current activities with OIT include establishing a statewide metadata repository and implementing a legislative mandate to populate that repository with the initial ‘as-is’ model of the state’s businesses and supporting services, infrastructure, and data.

Prior to this assignment, he served with the Colorado House Bill 08-1364 council serving as the Data Architect and Technical Subcommittee Chairman and also manages a database team at the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Michael’s background includes over 25 years of performing successful data and data warehouse design, architectures, and business intelligence management. His experience includes data, management, technical and/or project management roles in designing and implementing systems and data architectures in health care, telecommunications, state government, aerospace/defense, accounting, insurance, and transportation.
Mr. Armbruster earned his MCIS from the University of Denver and his B.A. from the University of Colorado at Denver. He is also a Certified Data Management Professional, certified at the Mastery level.
