An Advanced Data Governance Tutorial

Data Governance, as a data management discipline, has been around for a few years now. Most organizations have either 1) established programs and are in the incremental deployment phase, 2) have started defining and putting a program in place, or are 3) planning for the effective delivery of a program. Much has been written and spoken about how to get a program off the ground. Little has been written and spoken about what to do once you have busted out of the gate and started down the path to success. Or path to wherever that path may lead.

The time has come to address Advanced Data Governance Topics and to answer the questions about - Our Data Governance Program is Built … Now What?

This tutorial with discussion led by Bob Seiner will focus on methods to effectively apply data steward roles & responsibilities in a pro-active and reactive manner past the early deployment phase and preparing a program for long-term success.

Topics to be discussed include:

  1. Anticipating and Addressing Data Governance Problems
  2. Addressing Breakdowns in Communication, Coordination and Cooperation
  3. Dealing with Politics, Authority and Cultural Changes
  4. Advancing Management's Understanding of the Value of Data Governance
  5. Applying Data Governance to Assure the Success of Existing Initiatives
  6. Sustaining an Effective Program Past Set-Up
