Understanding Project Management for the CIF  

This seminar explains the significant differences between a traditional software development project and the iterative nature of the strategic support environment.  The unique business benefits of tactical and strategic support, the technical implications, and the organization impact will be discussed. The participant will learn the importance of developing and be able to create a scope document and a realistic project plan for their project. Additionally, the participants will learn how to obtain a strong sponsor, develop a reasonable ROI, and determine which CIF components are appropriate for their environment.

Objectives

  • Understand the business benefits and organizational implications of managing data as a resource,
  • Understand the issues for developing a cost/benefit analysis, ROI, etc.
  • What should be defined within the Project Scope document,
  • Understand the process for building the data warehouse or data marts,
  • Understand the roles of the different participants in a data warehouse project,
  • Understand the activities, deliverables, milestones, and dependencies appropriate for the development of a project plan,
  • Understand what critical success factors are important.
