Managing Vendors and Outsourced Work
This seminar is designed to provide project and funding managers; the information and a
framework for the selection of outsource vendors and the maintenance of positive relationships with them. Students should leave the class with confidence that they can: rationally evaluate the risks and benefits of using
outsource vendors, evaluate the equation of in-house versus out-sourced, and manage out-sourced workflow.
Objectives Attendees will learn:
- Several types of business models to choose from, and several ways to divide the project work between your company and
the subcontractor – and how to choose the right one for your organization
- Practical ways to rank vendors.
- Contract negotiations and what things that should be in every contract
- Determining if the offshore model is right for you, financially and logistically
- Developing a common methodology to get work done. You have your methodology and the vendor has their own. Everyone is
flexible and set in stone at the same time. How do you make progress? How do you choose the methodology? Tasks and roles are different when you are outsourcing. We will talk you through a workable staffing model with a
focus on critical roles and responsibilities.
- How to detect problems and get projects back on track. Exactly what is worth knowing? At what cost to budget and
schedule?
