From Data Model to Database
This class explores the issues involved in created a working database from a data model.A variety of
design options are discussed and compared. Emphasis is given to methods of achieving required performance without compromising the business information requirements incorporated in a data model.
Objectives
- Attendees will learn and understand the issues involved in creating a physical model and database from a logical data
model
- Understand logical and physical schema design
- Understand denormalization, indexes, constraints, derivable, overlapping and optional foreign keys, referential
integrity, domains, views, data retention and archiving
- Learn about tool requirements, standards, change control and database sizing
