Data Warehouse Methodology

This course describes the Corporate Information Factory and why its development needs to be approached as a program. A methodology for developing the data warehouse is described in three major sections.

The program section describes the coordinating forces that are designed to ensure an enterprise perspective and extensibility.
The project section describes the steps needed to define and scope individual projects, to develop the associated data warehouse and data mart(s), and to deploy the result into production.
The administration and operation section describes the activities needed to ensure that the data warehouse and data mart(s) are effectively applied and maintained.

Objectives

Understand the Corporate Information Factory architecture and its components
Understand the importance of approaching the Corporate Information Factory as a program
Learn the critical steps needed to develop and manage the data warehouse and data marts
